Video-feedback Intervention for Parent–Child Interaction

VIPP is an evidence-based intervention that uses video-recorded parent–child interactions to help parents better understand their child's emotional cues, behaviours, and needs. Rather than focusing on changing the child, VIPP supports caregivers in developing more sensitive, responsive, and confident ways of interacting with their child.
By reviewing everyday interactions together, the therapist helps parents recognise both their child's communication signals and the strengths already present in their parenting. VIPP is particularly suitable for families with children aged 0–5, when relationships and everyday interactions play a central role in children's emotional development.

Build on existing parenting strengths through guided video feedback
*Suitability for VIPP is determined following an Initial Assessment. The counsellor will recommend the most appropriate support based on your child's developmental stage, your family's circumstances, and your current needs.
Initial Assessment
An Initial Assessment includes a 50-minute child session, a 40-minute parent feedback session, and a personalised planning report. Based on the assessment, the counsellor will recommend the most appropriate next step, which may include VIPP, individual counselling for children or adolescents, parent consultation, family counselling, referral, or other professional support.
What happens during a VIPP session?
Parent-child interaction recording

Approximately 30 minutes
The counsellor will observe and record a natural parent–child interaction in your home, providing an opportunity to understand how you and your child communicate and interact in everyday life.
Video feedback review Session

Approximately 60 minutes
Together with the therapist, parents review carefully selected video clips to better understand their child's communication, emotional cues, and parent–child interactions. The feedback session may take place online or in person, depending on the agreed arrangement.
*The recording session usually takes place in your home to capture natural parent–child interactions. The review session may be held online or in person.
